Volunteer Training Requirements

  • Safety & First Aid Training: Basic safety & first aid training will be provided as part of the Managers Meeting. LFLL may host additional courses at its discretion for other volunteers/parents to attend. Doctors, nurses, LPN’s, and paramedics are exempt from this requirement; however, other individuals who attend various outside first-aid training and courses are not exempt.
  • Baseball Fundamentals Training: Hitting, sliding, fielding, pitching, etc. will be covered as part of the Managers Meeting. Attendance at one session will qualify the volunteer for 3 years, but each team must have at least one representative who has attended the training in the current year.
  •  Managers Meeting: Will cover the current season expectations, including but not limited to league protocols, practice field allocations and schedules, team volunteer requirements, divisional playing rules, etc. Managers will have the opportunity to meet their fellow managers in their division, as well as their Divisional Commissioner. Assistant Coaches are invited to attend, but are not required.
  •  Team Parent Meeting: The Team Parent Coordinator will provide teams with important information for the season, including information for uniforms, Picture Day, Angel's Day, and other administrative matters. The Team Parent or another parent from each team must attend to receive this information.
  •  Umpire Mechanics Clinic: Typically a 4-5 hour training on a Sat/Sun morning, District 55’s most seasoned Umpires will hold a training for new or inexperienced umpires on basic umpire calls and mechanics (where to stand, hand signals/movements, etc.).
  •  Rules Clinic: Typically a 2-3 hour training on a weekday evening, District 55 will explain Little League Rules for new and inexperienced managers, coaches and umpires. The Rules can be accessed on the Little League Rulebook app, which is free for download on your mobile device.
  •  Diamond Leader Training: A FREE educational resource that provides coaches with an understanding of the impact that mental, social, and emotional well-being has in youth sports through detailed information, interactive scenarios, and a variety of additional resources. Highly recommended but not required for regular season Managers/Coaches, but IS required for All-Star Managers/Coaches.
