Background Check: As part of its Child Protection Program, Little League International (LLI) requires all leagues and districts in the United States to conduct an annual background check, including a nationwide criminal search, a search of the National Sex Offender Registry, review of the U.S. Center for SafeSport Centralized Disciplinary Database and Little League International Ineligible List. LFLL utilizes J.D Palatine (JDP), which is LLI’s preferred provider, to conduct its background checks. The annual period resets on October 1st of each year, so those participating in Fall Ball will need to complete the background check process twice during the season. If you completed the background check since 10/1 of the previous year, then you are already cleared for the Spring season. Everyone else will be receiving a link soon to complete the application to get it done based on the information provided during registration.
Live Scan Fingerprint Check: California passed a new legislative bill, Assembly Bill No. 506, which is effective January 1, 2022, that requires a fingerprint-based background check for individuals (18 and older) who have direct contact with the players for more than 16 hours a month or 32 hours a year. Given the number of practices and games in our season, LFLL has determined that this law would apply to all Managers and Assistant Coaches, plus any volunteer Umpires who umpire in both the Spring and Fall seasons, plus any additional adults who help at practices on a consistent basis. Live Scan is operated by the Dept of Justice. Some key information is summarized below, but you can find additional info at https://oag.ca.gov/fingerprints
- The cost of Live Scan will be covered by LFLL if you get it completed by the OC Sheriff Dept of Lake Forest.
- Only the LFLL President and Safety Officer will receive the information provided through Live Scan.
We will send direct communication regarding LiveScan requirements. Online Trainings:
